Philosophy of research

An extensive and in-depth inquiry leading to innovative objects of study to be analyzed with a comparative and/or interdisciplinary approach and a solid theoretical framework.

How to get started

Our GCPL 1001 core course “Introduction to Global and Comparative Literature”, focuses on literary theories and research methods. Throughout the semester, students develop abstract thinking and critical skills and also learn how to find and evaluate scholarly materials, leading to a final research project. Intermediate course work also engages research in the language and literature departments where GCPL majors pursue their individualized undergraduate plans. In their senior year, all these skills and research experiences play a pivotal role in GCPL majors’ mandatory senior or honors thesis, which is an advanced opportunity for mentored, innovative research.

How to get connected with a faculty mentor

Getting paid for research
